Mid-Century Modern Revolving Centre Drinks Cabinet/ Sideboard
Meet Iris ❤️
Iris is a rare beauty. With no maker’s mark to trace, she remains a bit of a mystery but there is no mistaking her mid century roots, and she definitely comes with no shortage of character also.
To start, Iris was completely stripped and sanded back to her bare bones. Inside her unique, barrel shaped revolving centre section, part of the interior has been painted ash grey. That same deep blue/grey continues across the outer edges of her frame and along the back walls of her cupboards.
Her walnut grained drawers, doors, and spinning centre were treated with a hard wearing wax oil that brings out all the richness and detail of her grain, ensuring she continues to carry the glamour of a bygone age, bold and unapologetically unique.
Open her double doors to reveal a hand stencilled gold deco design, an unexpected wow. Mirrors on either side of the barrel reflect the light and give her even more presence.
Her hardware was carefully cleaned, polished, and resprayed. I also added a motion sensor rechargeable light to the ceiling of her centre section. To finish, she was sealed in a Polyvine satin varnish to protect her and enhance the finish.
If you are looking for something truly unique and special, Iris may just be the one. But be quick. Like all MD Serendipity Designs creations, she is completely one of a kind. Once she is gone, she is gone.
